Dear forumists
This is Bob Edwards from Cluj-Napoca. I have a Toyota FJ40LV-UC Land Cruiser, manufactured in November 1977. I am the original owner; I bought it in Saudi Arabia in 1978 and brought it to Romania in 2010. At present I am driving it with Bulgarian plates. I would like to register it in Romania. For this purpose I would like to obtain a certificate of historic vehicle.
According to Toyota Motor Corporation, the last date of manufacture of the FJ40LV-UC was October 1982. According to Romanian Law no. 27 of 31 August 2011, Paragraph 50, historic vehicles are defined as “vehicles where the last period of manufacture, using the same body and the same type of engine, is at least 30 years, being original, restored or rebuilt, for which holders have obtained a historic vehicle certificate issued by organisations approved under regulations.” Therefore my vehicle should qualify as a historic vehicle.
I applied to Retromobil Club Romania for a historic vehicle certificate, but they rejected my application, on the basis of (inaccurate) information from Wikipedia on the period of manufacture of the FJ40LV-UC. I provided them with the correct information, but they did not reply.
Can anyone advise me whether any other organization is authorized to issue a certificate of historic vehicle?
