17.2.72 - Beetle number 15,007,034, a 1302 S, becomes a
'World Champion' and leaves the Wolfsburg assembly line to break the
world production record previously held by the Model T Ford.

Car now in Stiftung AutoMuseum Volkswagen collection, Wolfsburg.
The basic 1302 front strut assembly design continued on into the '73
1303 models until 1974 when the steering knuckle and its mounting was revised.
Rack and pinion steering was introduced for the 1975 models.
1302 production ends 7.72 - replaced with 1303 model 8.72
1303 production ends 7.75 - 1303 Convertible production continues until 1.80
